About ZIP codes, Census areas, and missing data

ZIP codes describe postal delivery. Census ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) are statistical areas. We show local estimates only where the governed ZIP–ZCTA bridge identifies an eligible direct match. A postal locality name or source county label does not define a municipal boundary or a metro area.

The American Community Survey figures are 2020–2024 five-year estimates, not current headcounts. Published 90% margins of error appear when supplied. Population and median-income margins of error were not included in this snapshot. Small-area estimates can be imprecise; no ranking or significance claim is made here.

Some postal ZIPs have no direct Census match. Income or other estimates can also be unavailable within matched areas. Missing figures remain unavailable. Median incomes at the Census upper reporting limit are shown as $250,000+.

Survey scope and interpretation

BTOS represents the U.S. nonfarm employer-business population, excluding farms and public administration. These estimates do not represent every business or nonprofit. Current use and expected use answer different questions; do not add their percentages.

The panel uses the saved October 8, 2026 source edition. It is not a live feed. State.xlsx and National.xlsx response estimates and matching standard errors retain their source locations in the export notes. These observations are published as source measures, without an AWORD composite score or ZIP-level projection.
